What is Jackpot Deuces Poker
One of the main reasons video poker has proven to be a successful game is because it’s easy to play, the action is fast and the payouts are very respectable. Jackpot Deuces is a straightforward game of five card draw poker using a standard 52-card deck from which all of the deuces (twos) act as wild cards. This means that they can be used to form winning hands for numerous combinations other than a natural Royal Flush.
Gameplay is no different to any other variation of video poker. You select your bet size and the number of coins you want to play. Please note, in order to win the progressive jackpot, you must play with the maximum amount of five coins (more on that below). A single hand consists of the player being dealt five cards. They hold the cards they wish to keep and then hit ‘draw’. Any cards that were not held are mucked and they are replaced by new ones. The hand is then compared to the Jackpot Deuces paytable and if it is a winner, it’s paid accordingly.
Jackpot Deuces, like all other Microgaming video poker games, also has a double-up feature. This is triggered after you win a hand. You must draw a card higher than the dealer’s from a choice of four face down cards. Ultimately, this is a very risky gamble to take. Having tested this feature several times, there are occasions where you cannot win. For instance, the dealer showing an ace or king and all of your cards are of lower value (they all flip over at the end which is how we know this).

The progressive jackpot is paid for a Diamond Royal Flush if the player is playing with five coins only. 4.50% of each wager contributes towards the progressive jackpot so it doesn’t take long to get up to a good-size payout.
Below we compared this progressive variation with the standard Deuces Wild payouts. The 800 coins is taken from the 4000 coin jackpot and divided by 5. All other figures shown relate to payouts for one coin. The only changes are the Deuces Wild doesn’t have a progressive jackpot, but the payouts for 5 of a kind (i.e. four aces plus a wild deuce) and a Straight Flush are better on the standard game.
This results in Jackpot Deuces Poker having an RTP of 93.89%, whereas Deuces Wild offers an improved theoretical RTP of 96.77%. Therefore, it depends of the type of player you are.
