With a low house edge and easy to learn gameplay, Blackjack has cemented itself as a casino favourite. Especially among strategic gamblers. Over the years, hundreds of different betting systems and tactics have been developed.

And why these are never guaranteed to bring you good results, they can enhance your gameplay. On this page, we explore new and exciting betting systems - whilst also reviewing the classics.

Why use a Blackjack Betting System?

Executing a perfect blackjack strategy is actually very simple. It may seem intimidating to new players, but there are tools that can help newbies. When used precisely, you can grind down the house edge to pin-sized digits. Many advanced 21 players actually never leave home without consulting a strategy chart first.

But there are some blackjack betting systems that can theoretically give you a stronger winning chance. The Martingale for example, which stipulates that you double your bets after a loss. On paper, you could not only recoup all your losses on a win - but some extra funds as well.

Then we have the opposite of the spectrum: the Parlay betting method. This strategy stipulates that you double your bets after a win. This, of course, works with the idea of lucky streaks and riding the wave of successive wins.

Does blackjack betting strategy work?

Ultimately, no strategy is going to guarantee that you beat the dealer every time. Even if you execute flawless blackjack play. Each betting system comes with its own inherent flaws that become more obvious with longer play sessions.

Take the Martingale again. In theory, you could keep doubling your bets until you do see that loss recouping win. But there are two issues to keep in mind: the betting limit of the table - and the limit of your bankroll.

Most blackjack tables have a set betting limit. And this is to combat these kinds of strategies. But more importantly, how much can you bet before you burn yourself out? An unforeseen losing streak could leave you at zero chips in just a few minutes.

The same is true for the Parlay betting method. The strategy dictates that you double after every winning hand. But what about long losing streaks? In reality, no blackjack strategy is 100% reliable. And you should ignore any site that suggests otherwise.

If used in moderation, a strategy can be used as a fun alternative. You may be used to play your blackjack in a specific way - but a strategy can change your approach,  ultimately refreshing the experience.
